After a two month hiatus, It’s a Slate of Mind is back up and running for Season 2! I can’t believe it! Preparing this season for you guys has been nothing short of a joy and I’m so grateful to all of our guests for sharing their hearts, their experiences, and knowledge with me. There is SO MUCH GOOD STUFF this season and I can hardly wait for you all to hear!
It’s a Slate of Mind: Weekly Challenges
This season we are starting something new, something I am calling weekly challenges! These will be posted on Instagram @itsaslateofmind and they will be small, actionable challenges that can make a big difference in the way we interact with each other and ourselves. They’ll cover each of our main categories of mental, emotional, and social themes and are meant to act as a motivating and inspirational addition to your week. I’ll be taking the weekly challenges as well, and I hope you’ll share your experiences with me on Instagram!
This week’s challenge is: limit social media use to 10 minutes per day.
I know this one sounds impossible, but I promise it is well worth the struggle. That’s why we’re calling them challenges! Even if you go over 10 minutes each day of this challenge, it an excellent exercise to take stock of the time you are giving to your phone each day. Is that truly the best way you should be spending your time? What other options do you have that could be furthering your career, helping you care for your mind or body, or connecting with others?
Understand Your Essence, Own Your Power
We all have days where we just “don’t feel like ourselves”, or even worse have lost faith and grounding in who we are and why we exist. It can be so easy to abandon ourselves. It happens to us all. But it’s important to remember that no matter how far you wander away from your power- your essence is always there. You can always get back to that place if you choose to. We’re not saying it comes without work, though! You have to make that internal switch, decide and celebrate that it’s okay to show up in the world as you are right now. You decide how you present yourself, how you want to be seen, and what you want to fill your life with. The moment you begin to truly believe and project it, you’ll begin to attract those things into your life and work.
In this episode, Heidi and I talk a lot about the power of mantras and intentionally speaking positivity into our lives daily. When you say “I am ________”, you are making a deal and shaking hands with the universe. In return, the universe says, “heck yeah you are, sister” and you’ll things start to change. Heidi says, “The highest expression of spirituality for me is just to take action. A lot of people let perfectionism or lack of confidence to stop them from owning their power and before they know it, they’ve run out of time. I will never wait to act. I trust, and I do. “
Ultimately, owning your power as an artist and as a human being, is about being unafraid to take those deep dives inward and figure out what you value, what you care about, and how you want those things to reflect in your life. It’s also about being unafraid to create sacred spaces of peace for yourself in your life, and being able to say no to things and people that aren’t enriching your world and wellbeing. The more balanced and clear your mind is, the easier your decision making process will be when it comes to your next right steps.
This Week’s Guest: Heidi Uzelac
Our guest this week is Heidi Uzelac. She’s an actress, a fitness coach who owns her own business, a total firecracker, and uplifting encourager. We are talking all about what it means to own your power, your essence, who you truly are and apply that to your life and work. We cover shifting perspectives and limiting beliefs, why taking action is everything, the power of a name, and our processes when picking the next right steps for us. You’ll also hear us talk about Heidi’s past as a pageant girl, the time she accidentally joined a cult, and a brief gush session over Hilary Duff.
